Pitch 20 - Evaluation - Tyler
Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms of conventions in real media products?
I will approach this question by looking back at our digipak and music video then comparing them to other videos from the same genre as ours. My synergy task could also be of use to me here as I will be able to compare my analysis from both this question and the blog to further add to my evaluation. I will use screenshots to illustrate my comparisons and I may use Prezi to present my evaluation as a whole.
Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
In response to this question, I will look at both aspects individually and evaluate them. After this, I will combine both features and evaluate them again and observe the difference between both of my assessments. I could use Emaze to show how I answered the question in steps.
Question 3: What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
To answer this, I will conduct surveys and interviews through both social media and asking people face to face. Next, I will analyse my findings and compile a list of positives and negatives. And to conclude, I will state the changes I would make if I had another chance to create the product in response to the feedback. I could use Slideshare to answer this question.
Question 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation?
I will reflect on the various technologies I used throughout the year and explain how and why I used them. I will also use screenshots from my blog to aid me in my explanation. I could use Powtoon to show the progression of the technologies that I used as the year proceeded.

PITCH 7 - Setting and Location - Eray
We will be filming Chip's part at Broadwater Farm Esate, urban estate. As we all heard from it, Broadwater Farm is mainly where the London Riots kicked off. As i lived in Broadwater Farm for 12 years, i know specific locations.
- Lordship Recreation Ground (The Rec) - this park has a large scale of greenery with a pleasant view of the flats. Chip would be rapping to the camera while the cameraman has an establishing shot of him and a clear view of the buildings behind him. Broadwater Farm is in North London which relates to Chip stating "Lets take a walk through the North"
- There is also a 'Skate Park' within the park. We could have a shot of him sitting on the side feet hanging down from the edge and rapping.
- Half way through Chip's verse, Chip states 'I have a dream' , After this point we found it suitable for him to be at Piccadilly Circus, Chip states gives the sense of hope of leaving the 'Hood', the transformation from an urban estate to the busy streets of London is essential.
- Lordrdship Lane (Brookside House) - We could have Maverick Sabre singing the chorus while walking down this long footpath where no access of vehicle is allowed which would be safe. He'll be seen alone as its not a busy footpath.
- Westminister Bridge - Devlin could be walking towards the camera on the bridge with Big Ben behind him. Devlin gives a sense of being alone and trapped even though he knows many people, he doesn't seem to be trusting anyone apart from himself. Therefore, on a busy bridge, with Devlin walking and rapping by him self ( with some edited Slow Motion parts ), with his body language he will reveal frustration towards the real world we live in.
- Trafalgar Square - Devlin could be sitting on one of the walls looking down on people thinking back to his life.
- Muswell Hill - sub urban - greenery
PITCH 13 - Industry - Eray
Our artist can be signed to Virgin EMI Records. This company is owned Universal Music Group formed in 2013. This record label is then owned by Mercury Records. It is based in the US, However, within the UK it is distributed by Virgin EMI Records.
Within this record label of Mercury Records, artists such as 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Frank Ocean and Dot Rotten.
Dot Rotten is a UK based artist who as being signed by the UK record label he then got recognised by Mercury Records and is part of a deal with many successful bands and artists.
Our song will be available for download on the internet as well as on CD. This is because it'll reach a larger scale of the audience who don't have access to the downloading programmes, for example, iTunes.
Being Signed to a major would give the artist the opportunity to work with other successful artists.
This is an successful music video distributed by Virgin EMI Records with almost 70 million views.
PITCH 12 - Post Production - Eray
The Post production technique we will use would be the findings of Carol Vernallis.
Laying clips on each other, one take with base track etc
- The special effects we add, the filters, colour code the video, use of widescreen. These would give us the outcome similar to a professional music video clip as it consists of some of the same features.
We will use the editing programme Final Cut Pro.
As we can see from J cole's clip, widesceen, filters and colour code was used.
This greyish filter gives the scene a more dull and trapped scene as it feels like its trapped, trapped from receiving bright sunlight through the windows.
Eminem - Not Afraid - This rap music video also consists of the features listed above. The production company DNA, Inc. This company worked which many successful music artists.
Below are couple of the hundreds of music videos which reached success within the music
industry.
PITCH 9 - Synergy - Eray
Key Visual Element
Maverick Sabre is the main artist. 'Emotion' is his single. His choice of costume colour links back to his album cover, of being purely black and white.
In our case, we want our artist to regularly wear a cap of his choice. This would then be identified within the digipak.
The digipak could have a cap with the front of the cap having the artists name and album name within the top right.
For example, for those who know the rapper Eminem, would agree that, Eminem wearing a cap is pretty common within his music videos.
PITCH 8 - Costume - Eray
Our song is within the Hip-Hop/Rap genre.
When we think of these, we instantly think of Jewellery, hats/caps, casual clothing.
Chipmunk - brought up in North London, wears a T-shirt, hooded jacket, Black/Dark Jeans. He takes off his jacket on some parts. Our artist would wear what a typical North London boy would wear, Hoody, jeans and good looking trainers such as Nike Airmax!
Maverick Sabre - the main artist prefers dark colours, mainly Black. In almost every video of his, he wears dark coloured clothing. His choice of dress code would be Smart looking clothing with possibly a hat which could be a Key visual element.
Devlin - Basic clothing, T-shirt with a thin jacket or without. Jewellery, a watch (not too flash) / chain. Despite having all these, he still feels that he's not getting what he wants.
George The Poet -For George the Poets part, we believe his part should be the odd part out of all verses. This is because his verse isn't rap, its part of his poem. One of our artists could be wearing fully black, black jeans, black trainers, black hoody with an anonymous mask. At the last line, he could be revealing his true face. While wearing the mask, he could mean that anyone could relate to the words, at the end of revealing mask, he could give the sense that theres hope for every individual.

Skills Audit
My AS skills:
In AS I had to carry out various methods of research in order to aid me in making my film opening. I used technology such as Creative Commons to find out whether music was copyrighted or not and I conducted interviews in person to research my target audience.
My developed skills:
Since AS I've had to research even more vigorously so I could get a better understanding of the music industry. For example, I have used the theories of experts in the field such as Andrew Goodwin and Carol Vernalis to acquire a better understanding of music videos. I have also took my research into copyright a step further by requesting it myself.

Draft digipak and advertisement
this is our album cover, as you can see one thing which is seen across all platforms is the white branded cap, and the colour grey, in this instance (the font), the font also seems to sprayed on like graffiti, this is further associated with urban areas and gives it a more hip hop feel.
the 3D element is incorporated seeing as our audience are mostly aspirers who will definitely be familiar with using technology on an every day basis
pitch item (2) song choice, analysis of original video and how ours will differ
Our song choice is Maverick Sabre - Emotion (aint nobody) (remix) ft Chip, Devlin and George The Poet
Introducing the song:
This song is about the journey to success through a great
power of overcoming negative aspects in life , and a personal experience of
betrayal conveyed through aggression, it also sends a positive message to criminal youths/gang related youngsters, this message is made more hard hitting and personal because the artists have had previous involvement in crime.
LOCATIONS IN ORIGINAL VIDEO:
bridge /entrance to estate housing |
near river |
stair case near bridge leaving estate |
roof of building on rundown estate
as you can see the dominant locations used in this music video are different areas in an estate, this fits into their song message and genre.
HOW OUR LOCATIONS IN THE MUSIC VIDEO WILL DIFFER
in order to convey the message of progression in status that the characters in the music video go through we have chosen 3 varying suitable locations to film in they are; estate, suburban
to city central. The first location (estate) will be used because its at the bottom of the status ladder, this is due to the connotations it will produce i.e low funding, deprivation and poverty, the second location, (suburban) is second to first on the status ladder, as it conveys a sense of high end and more premier setting. our final choice of location (city central) was chosen because it is where most of the economy of the country depends on and is produced, this is at the top of our status ladder.

London city centre (location 3) |

CLOTHING IN THE VIDEO
artist wears a black bomber with light blue jeansartists wears a jeans jacket, white top/baseball cap &black jeans artist wears long green parka, black trousers and sand combat boots
artist wears white tee with black trousers
the clothing worn by the artists does not seem to follow a set colour code or dress code, the artists express themselves through their own choice of casual. street style clothing.
OUR CHOICE OF CLOTHING:
Our clothing colour code will be strict for all characters in the video, however they will vary in style according to the location they are filmed in i.e casual in estate ,casual smart in suburban and smart in city central. the predominant colour code in our music video is grey, this is because of it conveying a sense of an 'in between'colour take in the phrase 'grey area'.
however at a certain point during the video where 'aspiring' lyrics are sung, a burst of blue will be seen.
