during our lipsync tutorial lesson i was taught the step by step process of creating a music video, i.e matching the song(audio) with the artist singing (video) via the program 'final cut pro'
the steps we were taught were quite simple. The first and main step of recording a music video is filming many Basetracks, Basetracks are clips of the artist(s) lip syncing the song all the way through in as many different and varying locations, in possibly varying outfits as possible, with differing camera angles, this makes the video much more easier to watch as it is ever changing and not dull, monotonous and bland.

basetracks are the different clips layed ontop of each other

the basetracks are then piled ontop of each other and when the first word in the song(audio file) was said, a mark was put in the same applied to the video clip, when the artist sung his/her first word a mark was applied (the mark was in red) this was applied to all basetracks this was done so that the footage and sound were in sync, the choice is then for the producer to decide when to cut and change the shot(the clips are marked in accordance to the beat of the song i.e every 4 beats or it may change every 4 seconds) after the marks are applied to the base track the producer decides which footage to get rid of and which to keep, creating ever changing shots in the video
